Today, our program team presented information about the MGCS program at our Divisional Meeting... sounds a lot more formal than it actually is, but it's a very informative and fun meeting. Anyhow, Rick presented them with the challenge to write 8 bars (lines) from the point-of-view of a baby persuading his/her mother not to have an abortion. Yes, it's a deep topic, but a very interesting way to engage people in persuasive writing. About 20 Team Members only had 5 minutes to complete their raps/poems... and we had some moans about that, but we had a couple really good ones. I thought we should post one of them on our site as an example of "freestyle" OR improv writing:
JUST MAYBE
Come on Mom, go through with the birth.
I wanna spend a lot of years running out on the earth.
I wanna have a chance to live and follow through with my dreams -
Grow up playing sports - might be a star on a team!
I wanna fall in love, maybe have a child of my own.
We could learn to work together and be friends when I'm grown.
So I know, at this time you got a real tough choice,
That's why I'm screamin' from inside - hopin' you hear my voice.

If you'd like to challenge his skills, take a minute to reply back with your own 8 bars of rhyme. Remember, the challenge is: "You are a conceived baby persuading your mother not to abort you". Let's see what type of persuasive skills you have!
